Terms of Service

Rail Typing is an independent typing game with a free tier and an optional paid Pro membership. Station and line names are drawn from public factual data; all visuals and audio are original works. The service is unofficial and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to JR East, Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway or any rail operator.

Core gameplay, basic station announcements and line maps remain available without a paid membership. Buying Pro requires a real signed-in account. Pro unlocks the announcement studio, run-history export, and custom route planning, play, saving, updating and sharing described on the Pricing page. Access is linked to the account used at checkout and is granted only after Paddle confirms the monthly or annual subscription or completed Lifetime or prepaid-pass transaction. While the owner has Pro, anyone with an enabled route share link can view and play that route. You are responsible for keeping your account access secure.

Browsing the battle lobby and joining rooms remain free and do not require an account. Creating a public room requires a real signed-in account and verified Pro access when the room is created. Guests and free players may join it, and an already-created race may finish until the host closes it or its two-hour lifetime ends. Room codes and public lobby information do not transfer ownership or allow a guest to act as the host.

The checkout shows the price, currency, billing interval and applicable tax before you pay. Pro Monthly renews automatically each month and Pro Annual each year, and Paddle charges the payment method on file at renewal. You can cancel it at any time from Account → Billing → Manage billing in Paddle; cancellation stops future renewal and Pro remains available until the end of the paid period. Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase for permanent Pro access on the purchasing account and does not renew. When a Pro subscription ends or a purchase is fully refunded or charged back, saved routes remain tied to the account and can still be listed or deleted, but custom planning and play, saving, updating and enabling public sharing are locked. Existing public route links are unavailable until Pro access returns; explicitly disabling sharing invalidates that token. Prepaid passes on the Simplified Chinese pricing page provide 1, 3 or 12 calendar months of Pro after Paddle confirms completed payment. They are one-time purchases without automatic renewal. An additional pass extends an unexpired paid pass; an expired pass restarts at payment confirmation. Month-end dates clamp to the last day of shorter months. Gifted access runs independently. Full refunds revoke the corresponding paid period.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle processes payment, tax, receipts and the customer billing portal under Paddle's buyer terms. Product and account support remains available from Rail Typing.

Purchases are covered by the Refund Policy. A cancellation prevents future renewal but does not itself refund a completed charge. Submit refund requests through the support link in your Paddle receipt or contact Rail Typing support; approved refunds are returned by Paddle to the original payment method. Mandatory consumer rights in your country are not limited by these terms.

Do not use the service for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive or spam activity; infringe another person's intellectual-property, privacy or other rights; upload or transmit malware; probe, scrape, overload, reverse engineer, bypass access controls or interfere with the service or another user; or use scripts, bots or automation to inflate scores. Nicknames must not be unlawful, infringing, abusive or offensive. We may remove violating content or scores.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate an account or Pro access where reasonably necessary for a material or repeated breach of these terms, non-payment or chargeback, suspected fraud, security risk, legal requirement or harm to the service or other users. Where practical, we will give notice and an opportunity to remedy. Termination ends access to account-only and Pro features; billing cancellation and refund rights remain governed by the Pricing, Refund and mandatory consumer-law terms above.

The site's interface design, code, original artwork, and audio are protected by copyright. Factual data such as station and line names is not subject to any copyright claim by us. Please don't reuse the site's original visuals or audio for commercial purposes without permission.

The site is provided "as is" without any warranty of continuous availability, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. Scores and leaderboard data may change or be reset due to maintenance, bugs, or rule changes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and its developer are not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site.

We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
