Overview
The Ome Line (JC) climbs the Tama River valley from Tachikawa deep into the Okutama mountains across 25 stations. It shares both the JC numbering and the orange identity colour of the Chuo Line, and many services run through directly from Tokyo or Shinjuku — you board in the city centre and step off in a gorge.
Along the route
As far as Haijima it's still suburb: housing estates and factories. Past Ome the scenery changes completely — Miyanohira, Hinatawada, Futamatao — as the train climbs slowly along the river. Mitake is the base for hiking Mount Mitake and for rafting; the valley is deepest around Hatonosu and Shiromaru. The terminus, Okutama, sits above 300 m and is Tokyo's own mountain gateway.
Why play it
The second half is full of mountain names you'll never meet downtown — Ikusabata, Hatonosu, Hinatawada. If you want unfamiliar kana combinations to wrestle with, this is the line.

How much typing is this?
Typing every station name on this line takes 197 keystrokes, an average of 7.9 per station. The longest name is 東中神 (higashi-nakagami) at 15 keystrokes; the shortest is 河辺 (kabe) at 4. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.
Along the way: 1 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 0 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 0 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.
Where you can change trains
2 of the 25 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.
Marked with a star: 立川 — the major interchanges, which the maps always label and the game marks with a heavier arrival stamp.
