Across Nagoya

The Higashiyama Line (H) links Takabata and Fujigaoka through 22 stations. Its yellow route connects Nagoya Station with Sakae before heading east through Chikusa, Imaike and Motoyama. The playable route includes every station; either direction is a complete terminal-to-terminal run.

Read the bends

The western section travels north from Takabata to Nakamura Koen, bends through Honjin and Kamejima, then turns toward Nagoya. East of the center, Higashiyama Koen and Hoshigaoka lead toward the final turn north to Fujigaoka. The map follows these geographic bends. Transfer to the Meijo Line at Sakae or Motoyama to build a longer journey in Route Planner. The mascot depicts the stainless-steel N1000 series, with yellow side belts and yellow blocks beneath the cab windows.

Typing rhythm

Short names such as 栄(さかえ)alternate with 中村公園(なかむらこうえん)and 東山公園(ひがしやまこうえん). Watch the small っ in 八田(はった)and 一社(いっしゃ): it doubles the following consonant. 上社 is かみやしろ, not a variation of 一社. 千種 is ちくさ, and 覚王山 is かくおうざん. Read the kana before accelerating; the romaji and kana modes accept the same underlying reading, while kanji mode practices the written station name.

Line data

Everything below is derived from the station data the game runs on, so it always matches what you actually type on the 東山線 — all 22 stops of it.

How much typing is this?

Typing every station name on this line takes 194 keystrokes, an average of 8.8 per station. The longest name is 東山公園 (higashiyama-koen) at 17 keystrokes; the shortest is 八田 (hatta) at 5. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.

Along the way: 3 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 1 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 4 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.

Where you can change trains

2 of the 22 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.
