Overview

The Sakaisuji Line (K), opened in 1969, runs just 10 stations and about 8.5 km from Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome to Tengachaya — the shortest subway line on the network. To allow through services onto the Hankyu lines it is also the only Osaka Metro route powered by overhead wire rather than a third rail.

Along the route

Its northern terminus sits under Tenjimbashisuji, said to be Japan's longest shopping arcade. Southward come Ogimachi, Minami-morimachi and Kitahama, heart of Osaka's financial district, then Sakaisuji-hommachi, Nagahoribashi and Nippombashi, followed by Ebisucho and Dobutsuen-mae beneath the Tsutenkaku tower, ending at Tengachaya on the Nankai line.

Why play it

Ten stops make this one of the quickest runs in the game — perfect for repeat attempts at a personal best. The catch is that it opens with Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome, and a shaky start is hard to recover from.

Line data

Everything below is derived from the station data the game runs on, so it always matches what you actually type on the 堺筋線 — all 10 stops of it.

How much typing is this?

Typing every station name on this line takes 130 keystrokes, an average of 13 per station. The longest name is 天神橋筋六丁目 (tenjimbashisuji-rokuchome) at 25 keystrokes; the shortest is 北浜 (kitahama) at 8. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.

Along the way: 1 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 3 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 0 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.

Where you can change trains

9 of the 10 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.
