Overview
The Shinjuku Line (S) links Shinjuku and Motoyawata over about 23.5 km and 21 stations. Its fresh-green trains run on the same wider 1372mm gauge as the private railways — the only Toei line built that way.
Along the route
The line passes Ichigaya, Bakuro-yokoyama, and Funabori on its way to Motoyawata out in Chiba, through-running with the Keio Line at its western end to seamlessly link central Tokyo commuting with suburban residential areas.
Why play it
That unusual shared gauge tells a story of cross-operator history, and the long east-west run makes it a great showcase of Toei's kinship with a private railway.

How much typing is this?
Typing every station name on this line takes 203 keystrokes, an average of 9.7 per station. The longest name is 新宿三丁目 (shinjuku-sanchome) at 17 keystrokes; the shortest is 瑞江 (mizue) at 5. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.
Along the way: 0 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 5 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 0 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.
Where you can change trains
8 of the 21 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.

Marked with a star: 新宿 — the major interchanges, which the maps always label and the game marks with a heavier arrival stamp.
