Overview

The Sennichimae Line (S), opened in 1969, runs 14 stations and about 12.6 km from Noda-hanshin to Minami-tatsumi. Named after the Sennichimae entertainment quarter beside Namba, its pink trains trace an east-west axis across the southern half of the city centre, stopping everywhere and through-running nowhere.

Along the route

From Noda-hanshin next to the Hanshin line it calls at Tamagawa, Awaza, Nishinagahori and Sakuragawa on the way to Namba. One stop further, Nippombashi opens onto Den Den Town, Osaka's electronics and otaku district; then comes Tsuruhashi, famous for its Korean market and yakiniku, before Imazato, Shin-fukae and the run out to Minami-tatsumi.

Why play it

No expresses, no through services — an evenly paced line whose fourteen names are moderate in length and free of nasty readings. A good course for polishing accuracy rather than chasing raw speed.

Line data

Everything below is derived from the station data the game runs on, so it always matches what you actually type on the 千日前線 — all 14 stops of it.

How much typing is this?

Typing every station name on this line takes 139 keystrokes, an average of 9.9 per station. The longest name is 谷町九丁目 (tanimachi-kyuchome) at 19 keystrokes; the shortest is 阿波座 (awaza) at 5. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.

Along the way: 1 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 2 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 1 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.

Where you can change trains

8 of the 14 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.
