Overview
The JR Tozai Line (H) opened in 1997: 12.5 km and 9 stations from Kyobashi to Amagasaki, in tunnel under central Osaka for everything but its western approach, so every intermediate stop is underground. The track belongs to Kansai Rapid Railway rather than JR West, which runs the trains under lease.
Along the route
From Kyobashi it calls at Osakajokitazume, Osakatemmangu beneath the Tenjinbashisuji arcades, Kitashinchi in the heart of Umeda nightlife, Shin-Fukushima and Ebie, then crosses the Yodo River for Mitejima, Kashima and Amagasaki. Its whole purpose is to join two lines that used to dead-end: trains arrive through from the Katamachi Line and carry on beyond Amagasaki onto the Takarazuka or Kobe Lines, so almost nothing actually terminates here.
Why play it
Nine stations makes this one of the shortest runs in the game, but the density of monsters like osakajokitazume and osakatemmangu means the sprint still bites.
Line data
Everything below is derived from the station data the game runs on, so it always matches what you actually type on the JR東西線 — all 9 stops of it.

How much typing is this?
Typing every station name on this line takes 93 keystrokes, an average of 10.3 per station. The longest name is 大阪城北詰 (osakajokitazume) at 17 keystrokes; the shortest is 海老江 (ebie) at 4. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.
Along the way: 0 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 2 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 0 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.
Where you can change trains
2 of the 9 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.
