Overview
The Tokaido Line (JT) is where Japanese railway history began. Its JR East section runs south from Tokyo Station through Kanagawa to Atami across 21 stations. The orange-and-green Shonan livery is the visual shorthand for "heading to the coast", worked by long-distance E231 and E233 suburban sets.
Along the route
After Shimbashi and Shinagawa it heads south through Kawasaki and Yokohama, the heart of the Keihin industrial belt. Past Totsuka and Ofuna the view opens onto the Shonan coast — Fujisawa, Chigasaki, Hiratsuka along Sagami Bay, with Mount Fuji off to the right on a clear day. The terminus, Atami, is a famous hot-spring town at the neck of the Izu Peninsula and the handover point to JR Central.
Why play it
Long gaps between stops and weathered old place names — Oiso, Kozu, Nebukawa. This is the line with the strongest sense of an actual journey, and it rewards a steady, unhurried run.
Line data
Everything below is derived from the station data the game runs on, so it always matches what you actually type on the 東海道線 — all 21 stops of it.

How much typing is this?
Typing every station name on this line takes 160 keystrokes, an average of 7.6 per station. The longest name is 鴨宮 (kamonomiya) at 10 keystrokes; the shortest is 大磯 (oiso) at 5. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.
Along the way: 0 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 1 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 0 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.
Where you can change trains
9 of the 21 stations on this line connect to another line in the game. Follow any symbol to that line's guide.

Marked with a star: 東京・新橋・品川 — the major interchanges, which the maps always label and the game marks with a heavier arrival stamp.
