Overview
The Shonan-Shinjuku Line (JS) is the through-running rapid service that crosses the capital region north to south, from Omiya via Shinjuku down to Zushi across 19 stations. It isn't a railway of its own but an operating pattern stitching the Takasaki and Utsunomiya lines to the Tokaido and Yokosuka lines over existing tracks — and since its 2001 debut it has reshaped how people move between Saitama and Kanagawa.
Along the route
After Omiya, Urawa and Akabane it runs the golden corridor west of the Yamanote — Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya — with no need to change trains downtown. Southbound it takes in Musashi-Kosugi, Yokohama and Totsuka before veering toward the old capital: Kita-Kamakura, Kamakura, and the terminus at Zushi near Sagami Bay.
Why play it
Nineteen stops, nearly all of them household names — Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Kamakura in a single string. It's the line to pick when you want flow and a fast time.
Line data
Everything below is derived from the station data the game runs on, so it always matches what you actually type on the 湘南新宿ライン — all 19 stops of it.

How much typing is this?
Typing every station name on this line takes 154 keystrokes, an average of 8.1 per station. The longest name is 東戸塚 (higashi-totsuka) at 14 keystrokes; the shortest is 浦和 (urawa) at 5. Those counts come from running each name's kana through the game's own romaji engine, so they are what your fingers actually do — not the length of the printed spelling.
Along the way: 0 names contain a small っ, which doubles the next consonant; 1 contain a small ゃ, ゅ or ょ, where the engine accepts both the Hepburn and Kunrei spellings (sha or sya, shu or syu); and 0 end in ん, whose trailing n folds into whatever comes next rather than standing alone.

Marked with a star: 池袋・新宿・渋谷 — the major interchanges, which the maps always label and the game marks with a heavier arrival stamp.
